Making a Claim

All claims are handled by Travel Claims Facilities.

If you are unfortunate enough to have to make a claim then we will do all we can to help you through the process. To ensure your claim is handled swiftly and efficiently it is important that you follow the Making a Claim information laid out in the Policy Schedule.

When contacting the claims handler, please have the following information to hand:

  • Name of your Travel Insurance Direct policy
  • Master Policy Number
  • Policy Certificate Number
  • Resort and country visited
  • Value of the claim
  • Brief circumstances
  • Travel dates
  • Incident date

Conditon: Failure to have the above information at hand may result in your claim being delayed. Claims must be notified within 31 days after the end of the trip.

Medical Emergency Assistance

What you must do in the event of a MEDICAL EMERGENCY outside of the Republic of Ireland and in all cases involving REPATRIATION.

In the event of any unexpected illness, injury, accident involving anyone insured under this policy where the anticipated costs are likely to exceed €335 or result in hospitalisation you must notify our Emergency Assistance Service on the number below. They will direct you to an appropriate medical facility and may be able to guarantee costs on your behalf.

When contacting our Emergency Assistance Service please state your insurance is provided by Travel Claims Facilities and arranged by Travel Insurance Direct.

Note: You must retain receipts for medical and additional costs incurred.

Hospital Treatment Abroad

If you are admitted to hospital you must contact our Emergency Assistance Service immediately. If you do not, this could mean that we will not provide cover or we will reduce the amount we pay for medical expenses. If you are not admitted to hospital but you receive medical treatment abroad as an outpatient under €335, you should pay the hospital or clinic and claim back your medical expenses from Travel Claims Facilities when you return to the Republic of Ireland.

Note: If you have declared Private Health Insurance and have accepted a premium discount for this, your excess in respect of inpatient claims is €55,000 per incident per claim.

Returning Early to the Republic of Ireland

If you have to return to the Republic of Ireland under Section B (Medical Expenses), our Emergency Assistance Service must authorise this. If they do not, this could mean that we will not provide cover or we may reduce the amount we pay for your return to the Republic of Ireland.

If you have to return to the Republic of Ireland under Section A1 (Cancellation and Curtailment), please contact Travel Isurance Ireland Medical Screening Healthline immediately on your return. You must obtain a medical certificate from a Medical Practitioner to confirm the necessity to return home prior to curtailment of the trip due to death, bodily injury or serious illness.
